A Little About Me.

Hello there. Just to start this blog off, I'd like to introduce myself to the class so you all can know a little about me. My name is Alexis Capri De' Grate, and I was born on June 14th, 1992. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, but I recently moved to Bellflower about three years ago. I’m the oldest of nine children; I have one stepsister and one half sister on my mom’s side, and the other seven half siblings are on my father’s side. I’m really close to my family, and they are my inspiration. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. I’ve never been the child that always gets into trouble because I want to show a great example for my younger brothers and sisters. My mom is my greatest role model; she was a single-teenage mom, has her master’s degree in education, pushed me to be the best I can be, and has been there for me since day one.
I graduated from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, but before I moved out this way, I went to Santa Monica High School. I loved that high school because I knew everyone, I was on the dance team, and all of my cousins went there. I’m currently a freshman at CSULB, majoring in Biology and taking 16 units. I wanted to become an Orthodontist, but recently changed my mind to become a Dermatologist. CSULB was not my first choice, but I was kind of forced here due to finances. I didn’t want to come here because everyone from my high school goes here. My first choice was Howard University which is in D.C., but it’s a private school and is about $40K a year so I plan to transfer by my sophomore or junior year depending on how everything works out.
I believe in God, and I attend church faithfully every Sunday; I am a PK (Pastor’s daughter) so I have no choice. I sing and dance at church, I’m the President over our mass choir, and secretary for our dance ministry. I’ve been singing and dancing for large crowds since I was five years old, although, I am a shy person. I’ve had two jobs so far; I worked at Beach Fund and I currently work at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles. Beach Fund is a non-profit organization that helps raise money for the university (CSULB). I’m a cashier and waitress at Roscoe’s. Well, I’m running out of things to talk about so bye! J
